When a new team member starts at Mad Fish Digital, we like to get to know them and introduce them to the folks we partner with. You can read more about her below, from her affinity for road trips to sustainable business. Welcome to the team, Jeanette!

Where did you go to school?

Belmont University – Nashville TN

What did you major in?

I double majored in Communications + Social Entrepreneurship with a minor in Environmental Studies.

Where are you from?

Racine, Wisconsin

Favorite PDX spot?

I visited Portland for the first time this past weekend and loved the Portland Japanese Garden so much that I bought an annual membership that day!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Pre-COVID I loved getting to travel internationally — I’ve since pivoted that to road trips. I also love baking, writing, and visiting new coffee shops with a good book.

Favorite podcast?

Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History.

Bucket list item(s)?

Would love to visit all seven continents (I’m at five so far!) and to live in another country for at least six months (I’m thinking Japan or Scotland).

What’s your passion project?

Prior to joining Mad Fish I started my own business helping entrepreneurs and small businesses identify ways to become more socially responsible (I also have a background in nonprofits!). I truly believe that small businesses are the future and that ALL businesses will need to become socially responsible in order to remain competitive in the next few years.

Why did you pick Mad Fish?

Two dogs sitting on a couch

As mentioned above, working for a values-aligned organization is so important to me. I actually came across Mad Fish while looking at B Corp certified organizations in the Portland area and it immediately felt like a fit. I feel extraordinarily lucky that my work aligns with my vision for the world and that I get to work with a great team to boot!

Favorite genre of music to work to/link to your favorite Spotify playlist to listen to at work?

I don’t have a specific playlist but I’m always listening to indie folk — Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, Lord Huron, The National, Sufjan Stevens, etc. etc. etc.

Fun fact about yourself.

Brunch is my love language — I love making it, eating it, and sharing my favorite restaurants & recipes with other people.

If you have a pet, send us a picture of you with it! Or of it! ☺

These are two (out of three) of my dogs because it’s impossible to get the three of them to sit still at any given point in time.

What do you add to the team outside of work?

I hope that my passion for social impact and general “scrappiness” help our team to remember the why but also not be afraid to do things in new & unexpected ways.
