Learn more about how the team stays caffeinated, manages their time and prepares to do amazing work. Today, we’re learning about our VP of Operations, Marcella McKee’s morning. From bulletproof coffee to walks with her pup Milo, find out how she preps for her workdays. 

What is your morning routine?

I wake up around 7:00 or 7:30 AM, lay in bed for a few minutes, get up, feed Milo (the dog), do my makeup and my hair, get dressed, go downstairs to grab my lunch and bulletproof coffee supplies, hop in the car and drive to work. I shower and wash my hair at night to save time in the morning.

How long have you had this routine?

Since I got Milo over 4 years ago. I’d like to incorporate meditation into my morning routine, which is one of my goals for 2018. Ideally, I would meditate after waking up and before I feed Milo. He’s patient and will gladly sleep longer.

Do you do anything before bed to make your morning easier?

Yes! I pick out my outfit for the next day, prepare my bulletproof coffee supplies, and pack my lunch if I’m bringing one.

Do you use an alarm to wake up? What kind/what’s the sound it makes?

Yes. I use my iPhone 6 to wake me. I program the “sleep” function through the iOS Clock app. This tells me what time I need to fall asleep and when to wake up if I want to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. The alarm function is integrated with the Clock app and is programmed to go off during the weekdays only. When the week is over, I can look back at my sleep patterns through the Health app to see if I slept 8 hours a night.

How soon do you check your phone in the morning?

Too soon, almost immediately upon waking. It’s a bad habit I’d like to break. My goal for 2018 is to incorporate meditation into my morning routine, which I would have time for if I didn’t check my phone.

Do you have breakfast? If so, what?

No, breakfast isn’t really my thing. I prefer to drink coffee and water until I eat lunch around noon or 12:30 PM.

How do you take your coffee?

Bulletproof coffee. 1 Tbsp. grass fed butter + 2 Tbsp of coconut oil + 2 cups of coffee.

When do you go to sleep?

SO early! I try to be in bed by 9:30 PM and asleep no later than 10:30 PM
